Step-by-step walkthrough for VideoTracker

Overview

What is VideoTracker?

VideoTracker helps you track YouTube channels and videos and automatically analyze them.

  • Track YouTube channels and individual videos over time
  • Automatically analyze sentiment, topics, narratives, and toxicity
  • Group similar videos into clusters
  • View posting frequency, engagement, and keyword trends
  • Save favorites and explore related content

You add channels and videos. VideoTracker collects and analyzes. You explore insights on the dashboard.

Step 01

Create a Tracker

A tracker is where everything starts. Think of a tracker as a collection that watches specific YouTube channels or videos for you.

    Go to the Trackers page

    Click 'Create New Tracker' and enter a title and optional description.

    Add videos or channels

    Add videos or channels to the tracker from the Explore page as well. Optionally make it public or share with other users by email.

  3. 3

    Create and manage

    Click 'Create'. Open the tracker and click 'Manage' to add YouTube channels or videos.

  4. 4

    Data collection starts

    Once you add channels or videos, VideoTracker starts collecting and analyzing data.

💡Creating a tracker from the Explore page is a fast way to build collections from search results or trending content.
Step 02

Let the Analysis Run

After creating a tracker, VideoTracker begins analyzing the content in the background.

  • Videos and channels metadata are collected automatically
  • Daily cron job runs to collect daily statistics for each channel and video
  • Runs background tasks to collect transcripts, comments, related videos, and other data
  • Generates clusters, topics, narratives, sentiment and emotion analysis

This may take a few minutes to hours, depending on how many sources are added and the complexity of the content. You do not need to stay on the page while this runs.

Step 03

Select a Tracker and View the Dashboard

After the analysis runs, select your tracker from the Trackers page to open the Analytics Dashboard.

  • Statistics ribbon — total videos, channels, views, likes, comments, subscribers
  • Posting frequency — when videos are published over time
  • Daily video views — aggregated statistics till date
  • Top keywords — most common terms across your tracked content
  • Social Media Footprint — presence and reach across social platforms
  • Language Distribution — languages used in your tracked content
  • Related Videos — network of connected videos
  • Sentiment analysis — positive, neutral, or negative tone
  • Topic distribution — main themes across videos
  • Narratives — key storylines and perspectives
  • Clusters — groups of similar videos
  • Location — channel locations

Step 04

Explore Deeper Analytics

From the dashboard you can open dedicated deeper analysis pages for some of the metrics. Each page shows detailed data and visualizations.

    Posting Frequency

    When videos are published over time overall and by channel, plus video category distribution and a channel details table. Helps you see how often each source posts, which categories dominate, and spot patterns or gaps.

    Daily Video Views

    Aggregated statistics over time for your tracked videos, plus video rankings. Shows how views accumulate day by day and which videos or channels drive the most traffic.

  3. 3

    Top Keywords

    The most common terms across titles, descriptions and transcripts of your tracked content. Lets you see what keywords dominate and how they change over time.

  4. 4

    Related Videos

    A network of videos that are connected (e.g., by recommendations or shared topics). Shows how content in your tracker links to other videos and can reveal clusters of related material.

    Sentiment Analysis

    Positive, neutral, or negative tone detected in your tracked content, plus emotion statistics (e.g., joy, anger, fear). You can see sentiment and emotions over time overall and by channel or video.

    Topic Distribution

    Topic distribution across your videos, with a chord diagram showing topic relationships and n/r/t metrics (novelty, resonance, transcendence). Shows which topics appear most often, how they trend over time, and how they are distributed by channel.

    Narratives

    The narrative analysis page shows keywords linked to narratives, a list of narrative storylines, and for each narrative the related videos with similarity scores. You can select a narrative to see which videos reinforce it and open a video preview (embed, title, channel, description).

    Clusters

    Groups of videos that are semantically similar, with trend analysis over time. Helps you find sets of related content, see how your tracker breaks down into distinct clusters, and spot how clusters evolve.

Step 05

Reports

When you find something important, you can save it as a report.

    Add to Report

    Click 'Add to Report' on any chart or insight.

  2. 2

    Choose or create a report

    Choose an existing report or create a new one.

  3. 3

    Continue or export

    Continue exploring or export the report later.

💡Reports let you save insights without rerunning the analysis.
Tips

Tips for New Users

A few habits that will help you get the most out of VideoTracker from day one.

  • Start with a few channels or videos per tracker
  • Give trackers clear, meaningful titles
  • Let data ingestion run; analytics update as more data is collected
  • Use Favorites to save videos or channels for quick access
